Statement of Faith

  • We believe in the divine inspiration and consequent authority of the whole canonical Scriptures.
  • We believe in the doctrine of the Trinity who exists eternally in three persons, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
  • We believe all people are created by God with a given culture and language as a means for flourishing. That’s why we reach out to the ethnolinguistic through language and culture innovations.
  • We believe that relationship with God is precious. That’s why we pray, love the Bible and support its translation so others can have the same opportunities to know God better.
  • We believe the Church is the body of Christ, the fellowship of all believers, and is commissioned to make disciples of all nations.
  • We believe that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, born of the virgin Mary, is fully God and fully human; He demonstrated God’s love for sinners by suffering the penalty of death in their place, rose bodily from the dead and ascended to heaven where He intercedes for His people and those who believe in him and repent will receive forgiveness and eternal life.
  • We believe in the Holy Spirit who imparts new life to those who believe in Christ and it gives assurance and equips believers for holy living and effective service.
  • We believe the Church is able to carry out Bible Translation as an integral part of disciple-making in order to participate in God’s mission to save all ethnic groups.

Core Values

  1. Bible  Translation is  an  integral  part  of  the  worldwide  Church’s participation in God’s mission.
  2. Our desire is for Scripture in the language that people understand best, therefore, it needs to be accurate, clear and natural and in a form that is appropriate in the language community.
  3. All aspects of a person’s life matter. That’s why we also work toward language solutions that advance learning, health, justice, reconciliation, and spiritual growth. This is done through ethnoarts training.
  4. The Church is the body of Christ and collectively as a community it plays  a  key  role  in  translation  decisions as a mandate for discipleship.

  5. We  affirm the eternal  deity of Jesus Christ  and require that  it be preserved  in  all  translations.

  6. We support various translation styles given that there is diversity of audiences and the richness of meaning in the Scriptures that could be expressed meaningfully in different expressions natural to the target language.
